[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 167, June 20, 1947 ]

AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE TRANSFER OF THE POWERS, DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS RELATING TO THE REGISTRATION AND PROTECTION OF COPYRIGHTS FROM THE NATIONAL LIBRARY TO THE PATENT OFFICE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.



Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:

SECTION 1. Transfer of powers from National Library to Patent Office.—The powers, duties and functions vested in, or performed and exercised by, the National Library In connection with the registration of copyrights are hereby transferred to the Patent Office.

All books, records and files of the National Library relating to copyrights, and such personnel of said National Library as is now discharging the functions or performing the duties of the National Library in connection with the registration of copyrights with the corresponding appropriation, are transferred to the Patent Office, and the Budget Commissioner shall make immediate provision for such transfer: Provided, however, That one of the two copies deposited in connection with every copyright registration already affected and hereinafter to be made will remain with or be sent to the National Library for its Filipiniana collection; and that for the purposes of this provision the Copyright Office shall hereafter require the deposit of two copies in connection with the registration of any class of published works as well as of any kind of manuscripts or other unpublished works.

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
