AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE SECRETARY OF JUSTICE TO ACQUIRE BY PURCHASE THE PAPERS, DOCUMENTS, AND OTHER PRINTED WORKS AND UNPUBLISHED MANUSCRIPTS CONCERNING THE PHILIPPINES, AS WELL AS THE CURIOS OF THE LIBRARIES AND COLLECTIONS OF EDUARDO DE LETE AND THE LATE EPIFANIO DE LOS SANTOS, AND APPROPRIATING THE SUM NECESSARY FOR THIS PURPOSE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:
SECTION 1. The Secretary of Justice is hereby authorized to acquire by purchase the papers, documents, and other printed works and unpublished manuscripts concerning the Philippines, as well as the curios of the libraries and collections of Eduardo de Lete and the late Epifanio de los Santos, which shall upon their acquisition be preserved in the Philippine Library and Museum. The Secretary of Justice shall make a careful investigation and decide which books, documents, papers, unpublished manuscripts, and curios shall be acquired.
SEC. 2. The sum of twenty thousand pesos or so much thereof as may be necessary is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to carry out the purposes of this Act.
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
